The big news of 2008 was that we finally finished our SLO house ( Chateau Le Cache Flow) and MOVED there in May 2008! May 2008 also saw us sell our Lundys Lane house for full asking price after upgrading and staging - we feel very lucky to have completed these real estate transactions in this wild and crazy year! Various work projects have kept us on the road between SF and SLO much of the year, but we have managed to host several major family parties, Thanksgiving and multiple friends for weekend visits at 'the ranch'. We look forward to seeing each of YOU there as well.

Family
We continue to be blessed with our 2 wonderful grandchildren - Faith Denise Stewart and Myles Stanton Miller. We have been able to see each of them about once a month this year as they have grown from babies to toddlers with minds and views of their own! Faith has more than caught up with her cousin in height and weight and is busily working the motor skills and talking side of the equation. Myles is our early walker and climber! It's been great fun to have them together several times this summer/fall as they learn to 'play together'. Myles has taught Faith quite a few tricks. This summer brought them a new cousin - Lila Frost. She joined the family Thanksgiving event along with the rest of the Heywood-Miller clan.

On May 4th we celebrated Jo Anne's mother's 90th birthday at the new house. All of the family, including the grandchildren and great grandchildren and some friends were there to help with the celebration!

Work
We both continued our active work life in 2008 as RNM Engineering celebrated 6 years in business and moved its principal address to San Luis Obispo, although most project are still in the Bay Area or LA. Jo Anne continued her secondary direct venture capital work with Milk Street Ventures, private board work and did a few consulting projects. Jo Anne also joined Golden Seeds, a NY-based angel investing group that does early stage funding for women-backed start-ups and she is leading its launch on the west coast. Despite the economic chaos of Q4, Jo Anne remains convinced that there are still excellent opportunities in the start-up world!

Travel
Work travel took one or both of us to Singapore, Denver, New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, LA, St. Louis and Boston. We did get a highlights of Australia trip in during March which was lots of fun and just what we needed in the midst of our remodel and move from SF! We even got to attend an opera at the Sydney Opera House.
